Retirement for HX ambassador Apart (s.Larino)

25 August 2022

One of the horses that has made great advertisement for the breeding of Stal Hendrix in recent years is the very successful chestnut gelding Apart under Pieter Devos. The striking Larino son won the World Cup qualifiers in Stuttgart and Sopot -among others-, and can now enjoy his retirement has his rider announced.

The sporting retirement of the seventeen-year-old KWPN horse follows one year after the Global Champions Tour competition in London where Apart was injured. In 2013, Apart started his successful international career under Caroline Devos-Poels. In 2014 her husband Pieter took over the reins and he grew into one of his most important horses. They took the victories in the 2018 and 2019 World Cups in Stuttgart and Sopot, and participated in the World Cup Final in Gothenburg in 2019. Other 5* victories were recorded in Berlin, Hamburg and Bordeaux, and they claimed high placings at international events around the world, including Shanghai, Verona, Gothenburg, Basel, Monaco, St. Tropez and Madrid.

“Apart has been a horse fundamental to my career and a true sporting partner and teammate in every sense of the word. He always showed such bravery and intelligence in the ring, I trusted him implicitly and I’d like to feel he trusted me too. Together we have made some unforgettable memories and I could not be more proud of everything he has achieved in his career. A huge part of his success was due to his early training with my wife Caroline, and the trust placed in us by Stal Hendrix when he came into our stable. He truly has been a horse of our family, and one who will always be special to all of us. I owe him the biggest of thanks, and so to retire him happy and healthy is the biggest gift I can give him, and the very least I can do”, said Pieter Devos.
