Cian O’Connor adds Lambada Shake AG to his elite squad
17 November 2024
In his pursuit of world-class showjumpers, top rider and horse dealer Cian O’Connor crossed paths with the remarkable stallion Lambada Shake AG, hailed as one of the most promising eight-year-olds of today. The KWPN approved son of Aganix du Seigneur delivered a spectacular 1.50m debut this past summer, and following immense demand, his owners -the Hendrix family, the Lammers family, and Jan van Meever- have now finalized his sale.
Bred by Alex Gisbertz, Lambada Shake AG (Aganix du Seigneur x Spartacus) has been a standout talent since the age of three. In 2019, he earned KWPN approval with an impressive score of 90 points and has continued to turn heads year after year in young horse and stallion competitions.
A promising future
Under the guidance of Pieter Keunen, this exceptional talent was developed to international 1.45m level, with highlights including a victory in the VHO Trophy at 1.40m level during the KWPN Stallion Show earlier this year. Shortly thereafter, Giampiero Garofalo took over the reins. The duo has delivered a string of highly promising performances, debuting at 1.50m level at the CSIO5* in Dublin and continuing to impress in the Sunshine Tour, which only amplified interest in the stallion. “Lambada Shake wasn’t originally for sale, and over the years, we’ve had to turn down numerous offers. Ultimately, it became almost impossible to justify keeping him, as the demand was very high,” Paul Hendrix shared. “As owners, we sat down together and decided to give Cian O’Connor a chance. Once we made that decision, everything moved swiftly. It is definitely a huge loss for our breeding station and sport stable, but we have great confidence that Lambada Shake AG will make an even greater impact in the years to come.”
Breeding legacy
Lambada Shake AG’s first crop of foals was born in 2021, and from that inaugural generation, two sons were immediately selected for the KWPN performance test and son Raas R being crowned AES champion in Poland. “His initial offspring exhibit tremendous promise. They possess athletic conformation and outstanding jumping ability. Last year, Lambada Shake remained available for fresh breeding for a few months at our station, so there are more foals expected next year. Breeders have shown great faith in this stallion, and we still have frozen semen available. Moving forward, Lambada Shake AG’s focus will be entirely on his sport career, and we’re proud to have been part of the foundation of his brilliant future.”
