Hattrick for Pinacolada van Seldsum in Stal Hendrix Competition

After victories in Koningsbosch and Kessel, the KWPN approved stallion Pinacolada van Seldsum (s.Dominator) and Joy Lammers secured their third win in the Stal Hendrix competition today. In the impressive arena in Meerlo, he received the highest scores in the four-year-old category. In the five-year-old category, Offield van Schijndel (s.Diamant de Semilly) confirmed his great form by winning his class while Navanta (s.Nestor de Mariposa) showed to be unbeatable in the six-year-old class.

The judging of the four-year-olds was in the hands of Peter van der Kallen and Carlos Pinto. “We saw a very good top ten and a larger number of nice horses today. Some horses were still a bit green in this arena, making them harder to judge, but there are certainly some very good horses in this age group,” said ‘Dutch Pete’.

Close competition
With a score of 8.6 for jumping and 8.5 for rideability, the KWPN approved stallion Pinacolada van Seldsum (Dominator Z x Namelus R, breeders Minne and Esther Hovenga) under his owner Joy Lammers achieved his third victory in this competition. However, it was a hard-fought win, as Ulydi van de Bisschop (El Barone 111 Z x Kashmir van Schuttershof, breeder Stal Den Bisschop) under Johan Bergs was hot on his heels with two scores of 8.5. “These are both very remarkable horses. They jump very well, are easy to ride, and have great overview in the course. The minimal point difference favored Pinacolada because he shows just a bit more scope at the moment. But it was very close.” The third-place finisher, Platina Gold VP (Stakkato Gold x Heartbreaker, breeder Marcel Verhallen) under co-breeder Boy Peels, also made a strong impression with scores of 8.3 and 8.0. “This mare canters and jumps with great balance and showed good technique.” The KWPN approved stallion Pagani of the Paddocks (s.Catoki) jumped effortlessly under Pietro Lazzaro to fifth place, just behind the light-footed Dido Z (s.Dominator Z) under Jenny Johansson. The latter is currently second in the standings behind Pinacolada van Seldsum, with two Dominator Z offspring leading. Platina Gold VP and Pagani of the Paddocks are placed third and fourth.

Caris twice on Podium
After finishing third in Koningsbosch and Sevenum, Offield van Schijndel (Diamant de Semilly x Baloubet du Rouet, breeder Van Schijndel Promotion BV) with Piet Raijmakers Jr. in the saddle, dominated the five-year-old category today. Eighteen combinations went completely clear in the two-phase course at 1.20m level, with Nicole Caris achieving this result with Off The Road (Comme Il Faut x Kannan, breeder Stal Peters) in the second-best time. Ivo Steeghs finished third with the elite mare Odette M (Berlin x Vancouver, breeder Th. Maessen). Piet Raijmakers Jr. currently holds the best position in the standings with Officer RS (s.Diarado), followed by his other mount Offield van Schijndel. Nicole Caris won with the six-year-old class with Navanta (Nestor de Mariposa x . Alicia Bocken placed second with Delicious Diana Z, a daughter of Diamant de Semilly and Henrik von Eckermann’s top level performer Iliana (s.Cardento), and Kristian Houwen jumped to third place in Meerlo with N’Abalia SMH (Edinburgh x Zirocco Blue VDL, breeders Minne and Esther Hovenga). The latter pair won in Kessel, was placed third in Sevenum, and fourth in Koningsbosch, giving them a strong lead in the standings. After three podium finishes, Teddy van de Rijt is second with New Hope (s.Cornet Obolensky).

Final in sight
The final will take place on Friday, June 28, at the Peelbergen Equestrian Centre. The top 30 combinations, based on three selection competitions for the four-year-olds and four selection competitions for the other age categories, will compete again.
