14 May 2024

Following the conclusion of the 21-day performance test, there was approval for the KWPN studbook this morning for the promising Aganix du Seigneur son A Moonlight Speciale, owned by Stal Hendrix and breeder Jack Verstappen. The stallion inspection committee spoke highly of this talented grandson of the Grand Prix mare Especiale, who is now available for breeding.

The seven-year-old chestnut stallion was initially trained in Poland and later returned to Stal Hendrix, where Pieter Keunen took over the reins. A Moonlight Speciale has consistently demonstrated his natural ability, resulting in impressive performances in young horse and stallion competition classes. Through the stallion competition, he was selected for the shortened performance test, which concluded with today’s final presentation. The well-developed stallion impressed with his work ethic, good posture and balance, and athletic scope. Additionally, the stallion inspection committee praised him for his ease in combinations and the positive feeling he gives his rider.

Performance family
A Moonlight Speciale combines the power and scope of his well-producing sire Aganix du Seigneur with the quality for which his damline has been known for generations. On his dam’s side, this stallion is a grandson of the well-known top level mare Especiale, with whom Eric van der Vleuten won Grand Prixs and World Cup qualifiers. Through various valuable daughters, Especiale is the granddam of international 1.50/1.55m level showjumpers such as Especiale Too (s.Ustinov), High Fly Special (s.Chacco-Blue), Be Special (s.Chacco-Blue) and Also Especial (s.Argentinus). The KWPN approved stallion El Primero (s.Numero Uno), very successful in Hunter Derbys in the United States nowadays, also leads back to Especiale in his damline. On top of that, top progenitor Chacco-Blue adds his genes to this pedigree in the second generation.
