Pagani of the Paddocks dominates in Dutch championship

1 August 2024

After winning the semi-final, Pagani of the Paddocks (s.Catoki), once again impressed under Pietro Lazzaro in today’s final of the KWPN Championship for four-year-olds. Judges Roelof Bril and Marcel Beukers awarded him the highest scores. His main competition came from Pinacolada van Seldsum ridden by Joy Lammers, who secured a commendable second place.

Both stallions, standing at stud at Stal Hendrix, made a strong impression in Ermelo. Pagani of the Paddocks (Catoki x Corofino I), bred by Anthony Mornie out of a half-sister to the Olympic stallion Clinton, is showing excellent development under Pietro Lazzaro. This week’s victories earned him the title of Dutch champion for four-year-olds. With his light-footed canter, use of body, and athletic scope over the fences, he scored an 8.4 for jumping and an 8.8 for his excellent rideability.

Close finish
Last summer, Pagani and Pinacolada van Seldsum (Dominator x Namelus R, bred by Minne Hovenga) already went head-to-head in the Stal Hendrix competition. With three wins in the selection rounds and the final victory, Pinacolada then edged out Pagani, who won the other two selection rounds and finished second in the final. Today in Ermelo, the tables were turned. With two scores of 8.5, Pinacolada van Seldsum also gave a very strong performance. The first foals from both top talents are expected next year.
