Quality horses in first leg of Stal Hendrix competition
20 May 2022
After two years of absence, the Stal Hendrix competition is back on the equestrian calendar this year and that resulted in a strong field of participants in the first leg in Koningsbosch. Over 200 young showjumping talents competed in this competition and the four-year-olds were judged by Peter Bulthuis and Patrick Vandereyt. Offspring of Cape Coral RBF Z, Falaise de Muze and Glenfiddich VDL won their classes.
The Stal Hendrix competition proves its value for many years and many talents have been discovered in this young horse competition. The next selection shows are scheduled for Friday the 3rd of June in Sevenum, Thursday the 9th of June in Meerlo and Wednesday the 22nd of June in Reuver. The final will take place during Jumping Peel & Maas.
Future talents
In Koningsbosch, the four-year-old Nantucket (s.Cape Coral RBF Z, breeder J. Westenbrink) ridden by Micky van de Oetelaar turned out to be the favorite of the judges Peter Bulthuis and Patrick Vandereyt. They gave him an 8.4 for jumping and an 8 for riding. “This is a very nice horse with excellent rideability for a four-year-old. He jumps with a lot of bascule and has a lot of scope, he is certainly a horse for the future”, explains Peter Bulthuis. Runner-up was Levista W Z (s.Levisto Z, breeder H. Witt) ridden by Robby Krowoza, who scored an 8.3 and 8.0. “This horse is also very complete: she has great rideability, is very mature and jumps with a good technique. We saw many riders having problems with the distance to the first jump, but luckily the riders who finished in the top ten have all done well. For example, Robby presented this horse very well.” With an 8.0 and a 7.8 Klytsjko van de Heffinck (by Kassander van ‘t Roosakker) under Rob Heijligers finished third. “This horse is a little slow on the jump, but again a future talent with great rideability. He has a good use of the body and with a little more reflexes he could have finished at on the first place. We’ll see how he does next time!”
Breeders in action
The five-year-olds were presented in a two-phase course and thus were judged on time and penalties. The best result was achieved by Mike de Muze (s.Falaise de Muze) under Alexander Davis, followed by Touluska Key (s.Toulon) under Yves Willems and Arina BE Z (s.Aganix du Seigneur) under Don Willemsen. For the first time this year, the Stal Hendrix competition is also open to six-year-olds and this class could also count on good participation in Koningsbosch. With his own breeding product Lesther (s.Glenfiddich VDL), Geert Moerings took the victory in this two-phase course at 1.30m level and in doing so he referred another top rider with his own breeding product to the second place: the KWPN approved stallion Lambrusco (s.Entertainer) under Pieter Keunen. Hot Shot (s.Hot Spot) finished third under Robby Krowoza.
