Top progenitor Bustique receives the ‘keur predicate’
3 February 2022
On the second day of the KWPN Stallion Show in Ermelo, the Indoctro son Bustique has received well-deserved recognition by means of the KWPN keur predicate. The excellent stallion from Stal Hendrix has been making great progress in breeding for many years and produced, among others, the Olympic medalist Beauville Z ridden by Maikel van der Vleuten. In order to be of service to international breeders, Bustique will be available next year via Gertjan van Olst’s EU station.
The Indoctro son Bustique (ds.Grannus), bred by Hans Schipper and Henk van de Wijngaart, was approved with high marks for the KWPN studbook as a three-year-old and subsequently progressed to international 1.45/1.50m level under Michel Hendrix. In the first few years Bustique was stationed with Gertjan van Olst and dozens of international showjumpers were bred in that breeding period.

The ultimate example of this is of course the Grand Prix and World Cup winner Beauville Z, bred from his first crop, with whom Maikel van der Vleuten wrote history in 2021 by winning the individual bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Bustique also distinguishes itself with offspring such as Florida Balia NL, Hendrick’s HX, Berdien, Footlose HX and Golia. Time and again the Indoctro son proves to give first-class winners. Despite his relatively young offspring, Bustique is already placed 34th in the WBFSH sire ranking and many top riders have already welcomed his offspring into their stables. Paul Hendrix: “Bustique is an incredible progenitor and follows in the footsteps of his influential sire Indoctro. We have waited a long time for it, but are happy that he has now received the recognition he deserves from the KWPN. If you look at the numbers and figures, it becomes clear what kind of outstanding progenitor Bustique is.”
European breeders
This season, the stallion of Stal Hendrix will return to the stable where he started his breeding career. “Partly thanks to Gertjan van Olst, Bustique was able to make a strong start as a breeding stallion. Many good offspring were born in the stables of his breeders. Moreover, thanks to the EU status of Gertjan’s stallion stud, we have the opportunity to offer Bustique to an international breeders network, as they can ship Bustique’s semen all over Europe. For us there is nothing better than seeing Bustique return at the place where his success started and we are pleased to resume the collaboration with Gertjan. Especially because he fully shares in our enthusiasm about this brand new keur awarded stallion.”
